Measuring Guidelines for Custom Fastener Requests
Accurate dimensional data is essential when submitting a request for a custom stud or bolt. Refer to the diagram below when gathering measurements for your worksheet:
Important Measurement Checklist:
Overall Length (OAL): Measure the complete end-to-end length of the fastener.
Block / End Thread Length & Pitch: Specify the thread size, pitch (e.g., 7/16-14, 7/16-20, MJ11x1.5, MJ11x1.25), and total thread engagement length.
Nut / Top Thread Length & Pitch: Identify the top thread dimensions and length.
Body Diameter & Position: Note any shank undercutting, step-downs, or dowel/stop positioning requirements.
Special Features: Indicate if a bottoming feature, nut pilot, or internal/external hex drive size is required.
